Microsoft browser support

Australian Medicines Handbook (AMH) is dedicated to supporting our resources on a wide range of browsers and devices. We are also dedicated to continually improving navigation and presentation by taking advantage of new practices and browser functionalities.

Internet Explorer versions 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 – no longer supported by Microsoft

Microsoft removed support (including software and security updates) for Internet Explorer (IE) 6 and 7 browsers in 2014, and for IE8, IE9 and IE10 in 2016.

Microsoft support for IE11 is also being phased out and will end in June 2022. IE11 has been replaced by Microsoft Edge browser.

AMH Online products and IE

Following Microsoft’s announcements and because of concerns with loss of navigational and functional elements, AMH previously decided to remove support for IE6, IE7, IE8, IE9 and IE10 browsers. Please note that the content of AMH Online and Companion websites is no longer viewable in IE versions 6, 7 and 8.

From January 2022, the AMH will remove support for IE11 which means that there may be some loss of functionality in our websites in this browser. Also from January 2022, the content of AMH Online and Companion websites will no longer be viewable in IE versions 9 and 10.

By doing this, AMH can dedicate more time to providing a quality resource for our users now and into the future.

If you are using IE, we strongly recommend changing to Microsoft Edge (or another supported browser) as soon as possible so that you will continue to receive Microsoft security updates and continue to get the best experience from the AMH Online and Companion websites, and other websites in general.

Please read our current recommendations for desktop browser compatibility.

If you are using these browsers due to compatibility issues with some intranet or other websites, contact your IT administrator for assistance.
