Microsoft browser support

Australian Medicines Handbook (AMH) is dedicated to supporting our resources on a wide range of browsers and devices. We are also dedicated to continually improving navigation and presentation by taking advantage of new practices and browser functionalities.

Internet Explorer versions 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 – no longer supported by Microsoft

Microsoft removed support (including software and security updates) for Internet Explorer (IE) 6 and 7 browsers in 2014, and for IE8, IE9 and IE10 in 2016.

Only IE11 and Microsoft Edge are currently supported by Microsoft.

AMH online products and older versions of IE

Following Microsoft’s announcements and because of concerns with loss of navigational and functional elements, AMH decided to remove support for IE6, IE7, IE8, IE9 and IE10 browsers. By doing this, AMH is able to dedicate more time to continuing to provide a quality resource for our users now and into the future.

If you are using an older version of IE, we strongly recommend upgrading as soon as possible so that you will continue to receive Microsoft security updates, and continue to get the best experience from the AMH Online and Companion websites, and other websites.

Please read our current recommendations for desktop browser compatibility.

If you are using these browsers due to compatibility issues with some intranet or other websites, contact your IT administrator for assistance.

Already using IE11 but receiving messages in AMH online products about older browsers?

For institutional users, IE11 may be set up by your IT administrator to use Enterprise Mode (this compatibility view allows some older applications to be used in newer browsers).

In some cases, Enterprise Mode may be able to be turned off by going to Tools in your browser and then unticking Enterprise Mode. This will improve the appearance and functionality of AMH online products. If this is not an option, contact your IT administrator for assistance.
